This course has been developed for Health and Wellbeing Champions and managers following a cross-industry training needs analysis. It focusses on increasing the attendees understanding of physical and mental health to give them the skills to promote healthy behaviours in the workplace, as well as to care for themselves.

Course overview:

This course is targeted at rail employees undertaking a wellbeing champion role. It will provide participants with an understanding of health and wellbeing principles and the skills needed to develop communication skills. Delegates will be made aware of the common signs of poor health, and they will learn how to discuss these issues with colleagues to improve health and wellbeing at work.

The modular structure of the course which incorporates both online e-learning and face to face interactive sessions provides an enjoyable and balanced approach to learning.

  • The course focuses on:
    • Key principles of physical and mental health.
    • Introduction to healthy behaviours, healthy habits for nutrition, sleep, and exercise.
    • How to have a wellbeing conversation.
    • Bridging people into support.

The training will be delivered via a combination of e-learning modules, and interactive face-to-face or remote sessions.

  • Who should attend?
Wellbeing champion(s), people who are responsible for health and wellbeing within their organisation, or those who align their department’s activities with health and wellbeing policies.

Trainers’ Testimonials

This Wellbeing Champion training course was developed as a result of a training needs analysis carried out in 2019. The report identified a need and desire for a rail-specific training programme to upskill and continue to develop the competency and confidence of wellbeing champions. These champions play a very important role in providing a proactive approach to good health and wellbeing and need to be supported to do so.
