This document contains guidance on the application of the Accessibility (ACC) NTSN, particularly when undertaking work that would not necessarily constitute an upgrade, but where there is a reasonable opportunity to move towards partial compliance with the requirements of the NTSN. 

The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) carried out a review of the PRM TSI and an updated version was published in 2023. The GB rail industry has undertaken a detailed review of these changes, and other comments on the PRM NTSN, to inform changes in the ACC NTSN. Key changes in the NTSN include clarifying the requirements for platform width in National Technical Rules and updates to the requirements for wayfinding tactiles. The Guidance Note has been updated to reflect the changes from the PRM to the ACC NTSN and to provide additional guidance where requested. References to other standards have also been updated.
