This specification defines the construction, mechanical and optical requirements for optical trunk cable for use on the railway for telecommunication and control purposes. The cable will generally be installed in ground level troughing, although installation in duct routes will sometimes occur. The specification details the tests to be carried out on every cable and the allowable limits. It also specifies the Design Approval tests which must be carried out before the cable can be supplied.
