This document sets out requirements for the 750 V direct current (dc) conductor rail energy subsystem and the interfaces to rolling stock operating over it.

Some of the requirements set out in Railway Group Standard GLRT1212 issue one DC Conductor Rail Energy Subsystem and Interfaces to Rolling Stock Subsystem needed to be removed from this Railway Group Standard, because they did not meet the criteria to be National Technical Rules. However, as these requirements continue to be relevant and useful, they have been retained in RIS-1852-ENE. Relevant content from Guidance Note GLGN1612 issue one, Guidance on DC Conductor Rail Energy Subsystem and Interfaces to Rolling Stock Subsystem has also been transferred in this standard.
