This document sets out requirements and guidance for all rolling stock operating over the Great Britain (GB) mainline 750 V dc conductor rail energy subsystem.

Some of the requirements set out in Railway Group Standard GMRT2113 issue one Rolling Stock Subsystem and Interfaces to DC Conductor Rail Energy Subsystem needed to be removed from this Railway Group Standard, because they did not meet the criteria to be National Technical Rules. However, as these requirements continue to be relevant and useful, they have been retained in RIS-2716-RST. Relevant content from Guidance Note GMGN2613 issue 1, Guidance on Rolling Stock Subsystem and Interfaces to DC Conductor Rail Energy Subsystem has also been transferred in this standard.
