The railway will always be an attractive location for some malfeasant groups, as well as those who trespass meaning no harm. The TreSP WG exists to:

  • receive strategic direction in the area of trespass and suicide prevention from TreSP SG
  • highlight emerging issues, best practice, and champion cross-industry activity to address these
  • report into TreSP SG to update on: the effectiveness of current control arrangements; progress against objectives and targets; the realisation of safety, performance, and other benefits.
  • underpin trespass and suicide prevention industry activities and identify initiatives that seek to reduce the likelihood of suicides on the railway
  • enhance cooperation and improve effectiveness of industry’s toolkits through active support and collaboration
  • support task and finish groups in the delivery of remitted projects.

The group’s membership is made up of the following industry categories:

  • infrastructure managers
  • passenger train operators
  • non-passenger train operators
  • subject-matter experts
  • Office of Rail and Road (ORR)
  • Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB)
  • British Transport Police (BTP)
  • Rail Partners
  • Rail Delivery Group (RDG)
