GERT8000-HB11 Iss 10

Duties of the person in charge of the possession (PICOP)

Synopsis

You will need this handbook if you carry out the duties of the PICOP.

Summary Of Changes

A new section has been introduced at 8.13 allowing an alternative means of allowing an engineering train to depart a possession, when published in the Weekly Operating Notice or Engineering Notice. This applies when the detonator protection is at less than the standard distance from points and the train is given permission to depart from the last stop signal before the detonator protection. Sections 8.13, 8.14 and 8.15 of issue 9 have been renumbered as as result of the introduction of the new section 8.13.

Section 8.17 is a new section describing the actions necessary when a designated person (DP) or machine controller (MC) requests line protection for work to be carried out on a rail vehicle.

Section 9.8 has been renamed ‘manually controlled level crossing’ to remove gender-specific language.

In section 12.3, the role ‘pilotman’ has been changed to ‘pilot’ to remove gender-specific language.
