The aim of the first stage of this project was to compile a list of operational tasks impacted by metrication in connection with the implementation of European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), which uses metric measurements. The aim of the second stage  was to undertake an initial assessment of the impact on risk associated with the changes to the operational tasks and the ease of implementing the change to a metric system.
