Optimising the design and position of platform markings designed to keep people away from the platform edge (T1118)

The edge of the platform – known as the Platform-Train Interface (PTI) – is a key area of risk for passengers and railway staff. As well as the obvious risks of people falling off the platform (and at worst into the path of a train or between the platform and a train) there are also risks when trains pass a platform at high speed.
