Health and Safety at Work Act 1974: Enforcement
Synopsis
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for enforcing the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work, Etc., Act 1974 (HASAWA) and the HSE employs Inspecting Officers of Railways (IORS), formerly called Railway Employment Inspectors (REIs) for this purpose. The enforcement of HASAWA is delegated to IORS on Operational Railways.
