This document sets out good practice on the specification, purchase, implementation and installation of data communications technology in support of broadband applications on the UK railways. Deployment of high-speed data communications and its use on the railways is the main focus of this guidance note. The guidance provided is for the use of train operators, infrastructure providers, train builders and communications service providers.

10 yr review - will be issued to industry for consultation in January 2021

Following the review and consultation with industry, CCS SC approved that GEGN8579 issue one should be removed. The review showed that the document is no longer adding value to the industry. This is because the contents of the document are either out of date or covered by other standards including RIS-0700-CCS.
