Preparation and movement of trains

Synopsis

You will need this module if you carry out the duties of a driver, guard, shunter, signaller, train preparer.

Summary Of Changes

Clause 9 amended to allow use of the cab-to-cab telephone when this is authorised by train operating company instructions when the bell or buzzer is defective. Clauses 10.1 and 10.3 redrafted to provided more comprehensive and correct instructions on resetting the DRA. Section 11 amended to improve clarity and to align with recent changes to GERT8000-TW5 and RIS-3437-TOM. Section 21 reworded to include a driver’s requirement to carry emergency special working tickets and a revision to when a guard must have a red flag. Clause 37.1 amended as a reminder that the driver must obtain the signaller’s permission before some subsequent movements and clause 37.2 revised to remove an unnecessary restriction regarding passing over an AHBC. New instruction at clause 39.2 to the guard concerning use of GSM-R to contact the signaller in an emergency. The term ‘entering service’ has been replaced by ‘starting a journey’ at sections 4, 17, 23 and 44.
