Testing Railway Safety Critical Workers for Drugs and Alcohol
Synopsis
GERT8070 mandates common requirements for drug and alcohol testing of staff carrying out safety critical work to be applied by the infrastructure manager and railway undertakings. GERT8070 is supported by guidance material found in GEGN8570.
Summary Of Changes
GERT8070 was reviewed in accordance with the final report of the European Commission's Task Force on National Safety Rules (NSRs). The review concluded it duplicated European legislation, and could not be retained as a NSR nor as a RGS. Its requirements remain valid and have been incorporated in RIS-8070-TOM Iss 1.
