This document prescribes fire performance requirements for railway vehicles that carry people, to ensure high resistance to the initiation of fire and its subsequent progression, so as to minimise risks to life. It covers the requirements for vehicle design and construction, testing maintenance and cleaning, and all engineering changes that might affect fire behaviour and associated safety.
