PS305-4 Iss 1

PS305-04 supersedes from 1 March 2001, these documents PS305-01, PS305-02 and PS305-03. The document PS305-04 is an amalgamation of the three PS305 standards and specifies in one document both Vehicle Acceptance Body and Conformance Certification Body requirements for operating the process for Engineering Acceptance of Rail Vehicles. The opportunity has also been taken to further clarify sections B 4.1, 4.1.1 & 4.1.2. and the changes within Railtrack, specifically the transition of Railtrack Safety & Standards Directorate to Railway Safety. Further incorporated into the standard is a new section, Part C 7.0, to cover the production and maintenance of a Continued Professional Development Log by approved signatories.

A change in regulations has ended the mandatory use of Vehicle Acceptance Bodies (VABs) for independent conformance assessment and certification of rail vehicles, and introduced other specific bodies, such as Notified Bodies (NoBos), Designated Bodies (DeBos) and Assessment Bodies (AsBos). Mandatory requirements have been withdrawn and replaced by suitable requirements and guidance in RIS-2700-RST Iss 1 published on 05/03/2016.
