RIS-1530-PLT is a single document for the design requirements and acceptance process for all possession-only rail vehicles. Thus the document is equally applicable for road rail vehicles, rail mounted maintenance machines, trailers and associated equipment. The document contains both requirements and guidance. The requirements only become mandatory when invoked by contract or a commitment in the duty holder's Railway Safety Case.
