This document sets out requirements and guidance relating to the safe operation of freight trains and the safe movement of dangerous goods.

The Working Manual for Rail Staff - Freight Train Operations (GORT3056) and the Working Manual for Rail Staff Handling and Carriage of Dangerous Good (GORT3053) have been withdrawn, together with their associated guidance notes, Guidance for Safe Freight Train Operation (GOGN3653) and Guidance on the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (GOGN3676). Content identified as company level requirements and guidance has been transferred to RIS-3781-TOM and content identified as frontline instructions has been transferred to the Rule Book (GERT8000). Also contains updated guidance on securing and loading.
