The M&EE Networking Group has looked at HSE SIM02/2007/01 Version 2 Safe use of Quick Hitch Devices on Excavators following several incidents that have been notified to the industry including a construction site fatality where a bucket became detached from the quick hitch. This technical advice note covers the safety issues regarding this equipment on OTP and is provided by the M&EE group to raise awareness of Machine Controllers, Crane Controllers, OTP operators and persons planning work for OTPs of safety issues related to the use of Quick Hitches when used with RRV Excavators/Excavator cranes.
