Form NR3180 Iss 07-25

This form is used by the Signaller, IWA, COSS and PC to record the details of a line blockage.

In section 1, reference to the obsolete competency of safe work leader have been removed. In addition, the designated person, train crew and platform staff have been removed from the roles requesting a line blockage, as they are now covered by the NR3178 form. 

In section 2, a new column has been provided for positive confirmation that the protection has been applied for each of the 6 lines being protected.

In section 3, the box on additional protection has been changed to free form text as there are too many types of additional protection to list and free form text future-proofs the form.

In section 5, following several irregularities where other signallers have not been informed, and a line blockage not protected fully, a column has been added for positive confirmation of communication with other signallers. In the same section, a column has been added to allow for protection verification by another competent person.

In section 6 on ‘level crossing arrangements’ the word ‘affected’ has been added to make it clear that only those lines affected by the line blockage should be listed. 

In section 7B, the ‘employer’ column has been retitled ‘sponsor’. 

In Appendix A, changing to a single box allows for the type of protection to be added as free form text and future-proofs the form.

There are no changes to the process for granting or giving up line blockages.
