This document provides guidance on evaluating and managing the risk of excessive dynamic effects in underline bridges resulting from the operating speed of a vehicle exceeding the limits of validity of the route availability (RA) system.

The guidance covers checking the technical compatibility of a new or altered train with infrastructure over its intended route of operation; proposed modifications to an existing bridge with existing and planned rail traffic; and the proposed design of a new bridge with existing and planned rail traffic.

This document provides guidance on undertaking the Stage 3 compatibility assessment; that is, evaluating and managing the risk of excessive dynamic effects in rail bridges resulting from the operating speed of a vehicle exceeding the limits of validity of the RA system.
