GERT8000-P1 Iss 9
Single Line Working
Synopsis
You will need this module if you carry out the duties of a driver, pilot or signaller.
Summary Of Changes
The rules for single line working have been updated to reduce the use of detonators across the industry. A handsignaller positioned at the end of the single line working section can now act as the signaller’s agent, removing the previous requirement for a detonator and handsignal at that location. The handsignaller has been replaced by an ‘end of degraded working’ sign, which was previously used only in emergency special working but can now be used more widely. The signaller’s agent must be positioned to observe all train movements past the sign in the wrong direction and must be able to make an emergency call to the signaller if any unauthorised movement occurs. Handsignallers are still required at intermediate points if the single line working section is divided, and these are now referred to as "intermediate handsignallers" to clarify their specific role.
