GERT8000-TS2 Iss 7

Track circuit block regulations

Synopsis

You will need this module if you carry out the duties of a signaller in a track circuit block area.

Summary Of Changes

The rules for signalling trains in the wrong direction during single line working have been updated to reduce detonator use. A handsignaller now acts as the signaller’s agent at the end of the single line section, and the handsignal has been replaced by an ‘end of degraded working’ sign, which is now used in a broader range of situations.

In section 3.5.3, references to temporary block working (TBW) have been removed from the instructions concerning the method of signalling by bells or telephone. In addition, emergency special working (ESW) which was previously in place for un-planned signalling failures, has been re-named to extended block working (EBW).

Section 9 has been rewritten and restructured for improved clarity. Handsignallers are still required at intermediate locations when dividing a single line section and are now referred to as ‘intermediate handsignallers’ to clarify their specific roles.
