GMGN2694 Iss 1

Rolling Stock Electromagnetic Compatibility with Trackside CCS Subsystems

Synopsis

This document gives guidance on achieving rolling stock electromagnetic compatibility with control, command and signalling (CCS) subsystems, through supporting electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). It includes the methodology for the calculation of a transfer function for determining the impact of rolling stock line current on lineside copper cables as well as guidance on how to apply other EMC related standards from a rolling stock perspective.

Summary Of Changes

GMGN2694 is a new standard on electromagnetic compatibility intended to be used by rolling stock designers, rolling stock manufacturers, train operating companies (TOC), freight operating companies (FOC), rolling stock owning companies (ROSCO), infrastructure managers and rolling stock and CCS system suppliers.

The guidance note includes reference to RIS-0725-CCS Electromagnetic Compatibility of Train Detection Infrastructure with Rail Vehicles, the BS EN 50121 series standards and the Network Rail 50xxx series standards that set out methodologies for achieving technical compatibility with CCS subsystems.

The document has been created to support the introduction of rolling stock on to routes and reduce the time spent testing vehicles for electromagnetic compatibility with CCS subsystems.
