RIS-2714-RST Iss 1

This document sets out requirements and guidance for condition monitoring of axle bearings, whether by trackside or onboard detection systems.

RIS-2714-RST Iss 1 has been created from the content of GERT8014 Iss 2 and associated content in GEGN8614 Iss 1, both of which have now been withdrawn. GERT8014 Iss 2 contained numerous requirements which were either not valid National Technical Rules (NTRs) or duplicated requirements already set out in the Locomotive and Passenger (LOC&PAS) National Technical Specification Notice (NTSN) giving the reason for adapting the standard for publication as a RIS. RIS-2714-RST Iss 1 also gives new guidance on dynamic frequency monitoring which was not previously included in a standard.

Additionally, RIS-2714-RST Iss 1 contains updated legislative references following the UK’s departure from the EU, including changing from TSIs to NTSNs, as well as the incorporation of findings from recent RSSB research projects.
