RIS-2766-RST Iss 2

This document supports GMRT2466 and sets out requirements for the design, manufacture and maintenance of wheelsets and their components.

RIS-2766-RST referred extensively to the Rolling Stock - Locomotive & Passenger (LOC&PAS), Rolling Stock - Freight Wagons (WAG) and Infrastructure (INF) Technical Specifications for interoperability (TSIs) that have since been replaced in GB by National Technical Specification Notices (NTSNs).

References to RSSB and external standards that had been revised since publication have been updated. The definition of tolerance for new and reprofiled wheelsets have been improved. The application of additional inspection/control for extended life axles has been clarified to avoid confusion around the '40-year-old' rule. Minor revisions have been made to the controls of wheel flats to align better with Network Rail Wheel Impact Load Detection limits.
