This document sets out requirements, rationale and guidance concerning how vehicle gauging data is generated and the format in which it is recorded. It also includes details of the standard method used to generate the vehicle gauging data.

The document was updated for clauses to be presented in the current format of requirement, rationale and guidance. Requirements that were not National Technical Rules (NTRs) in GMRT2173 Size of Vehicles and Position of Equipment and relevant guidance – Part 7 and Part 12 – from GEGN8573 Guidance on Gauging and Platform Stepping Distances have been transferred to this document.
