RIS-7016-INS Iss 2.1
Interface between Station Platforms, Track, Trains and Buffer Stops
Synopsis
This document sets out requirements for the design and maintenance of station platforms for their safe interface with trains, track and buffer stops.
Summary Of Changes
On 2 May 2025, the Department for Transport (DfT) published updated NTSNs, including the new ACC NTSN which supersedes the earlier Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) NTSN.
There are no technical changes to requirements but the requirements for platform width and platform edge markings, which were formerly only in RIS-7016-INS, now become NTRs and are therefore also included in GIRT7020.
The document has also been updated to make editorial changes to references and remove some guidance which is no longer relevant following the NTSN update.
RIS-7016-INS provides additional requirements, rationale and guidance regarding the interface between platforms, track and trains.
