Rolling stock

In December two new standards have been published and one withdrawn in the standards catalogue.

RIS-2715-RST Issue 1 - Rolling Stock Subsystem and Interface to AC Energy Subsystem
This new standard contains requirements, together with supporting rationale and guidance, for achieving compatibility at the interface between rolling stock and the AC energy subsystem.
It is applicable to rolling stock operating over the GB mainline 25 kV AC electrified railway and sets out the interface requirements for the AC energy subsystem that are route specific.

GMRT2111 Issue 3 - Rolling Stock Subsystem and Interface to AC Energy Subsystem
This revised standard contains new requirements, together with supporting rationale and guidance, for the interface between rolling stock and the AC energy subsystem that are necessary for the addressing of open points, specific cases, and technical compatibility with legacy systems. It is applicable to rolling stock operating over the GB mainline 25 kV AC electrified railway and sets out the National Technical Rules (NTRs) for the AC energy subsystem.

GMGN2611 issue 2 WITHDRAWN Guidance on Rolling Stock Subsystem and Interfaces to AC Energy Subsystem
This standard contained requirements that did not meet the criteria to be classified as NTRs. Those requirements have been moved into RIS-2715-RST Issue 1.

Control, Command and Signalling

In December one new standard and one point release have been published and one has been removed within in the standards catalogue.

RIS-8072-CCS Issue 2 – ERTMS National Identities Management
This revised standard sets out a process for this process between the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) National Identities Coordinator and applicants wishing to request, or relinquish, values. Issue 2 has simplified and unified the process for all identities moving from separate processes for requesting national-level and international-level identities, which are largely identical. It also contains a new requirement that asks organisations to inform the coordinator about identities that are no longer required. There is a limited range of useable values for each identity, and this allows values to be re-used for future ERTMS deployments.

GKRT0028 Issue 3.1 – Infrastructure Based Train Detection Interface Requirements
This has been amended to clarify the applicability of the requirements of the CCS National Technical Specification Notice (NTSN) relating to the minimum length of a train detection section. References to the CCS Technical Specification for Interoperability (TSI) have been updated to the CCS NTSN.

Energy

In December two new standards have been published and one withdrawn in the standards catalogue.

RIS-1853-ENE Issue 1 - AC Energy Subsystem and Interface to Rolling Stock Subsystem
This new standard contains requirements, together with supporting rationale and guidance, including content for achieving compatibility at the interface between the AC Energy subsystem and the Rolling Stock subsystem. This includes signage which supports the network operating rules associated with the Traffic and Operation Management subsystem and informative appendices containing characteristics of the AC energy subsystem.

GLRT1210 Issue 3 - AC Energy Subsystem and Interface to Rolling Stock Subsystem
This revised standard sets out the National Technical Rules (NTRs) for the Energy subsystem, complementing the Energy National Technical Specification Notice (NTSN). Interface requirements have been simplified, contact wire height requirements have been revised, and the requirements addressing electric shock have been updated and limited to public areas. The assessment process for the overhead contact line with specific cases is aligned with the NTSN for interoperable constituents.

GLRT1610 Issue 3 WITHDRAWN - Guidance on AC Energy Subsystem and Interfaces to Rolling Stock Subsystem
This standard contained requirements that did not meet the criteria to be classified as NTRs. Those requirements have been moved into RIS-1853-ENE issue one.

Infrastructure

In December one point release has been published in the standards catalogue.

GIRT7020 Issue 2.1 - GB Requirements for Platform Height, Platform Offset and Platform Width
The compliance date in clause 3.3.1 has changed from a proposed date to confirmed one.

Operational Rules

The Rule Book has been reviewed to remove cases of gender-specific language which can be taken as an assumption that only males are involved. All references to 'pilotman' have been changed to 'pilot’ and references to ‘manned level crossing’ have been changed to ‘manually-controlled level crossing’. The following modules and handbooks have been updated (note no technical content or rules have changed)
