Infrastructure Standards Committee
The Infrastructure Standards Committee is the cross-industry decision-making body for standards on track, gauging, stations, and structures. These are the infrastructure-related Railway Group Standards (containing National Technical Rules), Rail Industry Standards, and Rail Industry Guidance Notes. The committee also supports research and development projects funded by the Department for Transport.

Scope
Within the scope defined in its remit, the committee’s coverage includes all railway infrastructure other than signalling, telecommunications, and electrification equipment. It also includes the management of risk from the railway environment. Coverage includes:
- Track, drainage, earthworks, and structures supporting or protecting the track
- Other adjacent structures and buildings that could affect the safety of the railway
- Tunnels
- Station infrastructure
- Infrastructure for access to or along the railway
- Level crossing surfaces
- Lineside security
- Environmental conditions (managing the risk from vegetation, weather and water)
- Structures used to support signalling, telecommunications, electrification, lighting, and other equipment (such as gantries)
- Consideration of the interfaces between any of these items and those covered by other standards committees.

Aerodynamics GB Working GroupThe Aerodynamics GB Working Group covers all matters of relevance and interest to the railway industry in the field of aerodynamics (the effects of a train moving through the air), including wind and wind loading.

Infrastructure Technical Specification for Interoperability/National Technical Specification Notice Mirror Group
The Infrastructure Technical Specification for Interoperability/National Technical Specification Notice Mirror Group (INF TSI NTSN MG) is a subgroup of the Infrastructure Standards Committee (INS SC). It shares, coordinates and collectively agrees GB rail’s views on matters relevant to changes to National Technical Specification Notices (NTSNs) and Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs).

Persons with Reduced Mobility Technical Specification for Interoperability/National Technical Specification Notice Mirror GroupThe Persons with Reduced Mobility Technical Specification for Interoperability/National Technical Specification Notice Mirror Group (PRM TSI/NTSN MG) has been set up to review the forthcoming PRM TSI (2022) and advise on its suitability and any potential divergence to the Department for Transport (DfT) for the equivalent National Technical Specification Notice.

Tunnel Expert GroupThe Tunnel Expert Group is responsible for the specification, design, commissioning and upgrading of railway tunnels. We focus on aerodynamics, tunnel ventilation, pollution, thermal environment and cooling, fire safety and evacuation procedures. This work will enable industry to understand issues, share and exchange information, examine lessons learned, maintain and develop our knowledge base, and identify requirements for new research.
