This document provides guidance to Infrastructure Managers on criteria that may be considered when deciding on the provision of lineside telephones now that the introduction of GSM-R is complete on the GB mainline railway.

The guidance document has been revised to address the findings and consultation comments arising from the five-year review. The changes include removal of references to Cab Secure Radio (CSR) and National Radio Network (NRN) systems as these are no longer in use on the GB mainline railway, to update references to other documents, and to update the format, structure and wording in line with RSSB’s standards strategy.
