Form NR3178 Iss 12-24
Personnel asking for trains to be stopped form
Synopsis
This form is used by signallers to record the details when personnel ask for a line to be blocked for their own protection when going on or near the line.
Summary Of Changes
When personnel ask for trains to be stopped, as described in general signalling regulation 13.1, the signaller was historically required to record the details on a line blockage form (NR3180). Investigations into ‘near miss’ incidents questioned the appropriateness of that form, which contains much detail that would not be relevant. This is a new simpler form that contains only detail relevant to this method of blocking a line, with the aim of reducing possible errors when completing it.
The change forms part of the suite of general updates issued annually which are intended to improve understanding and application of the content of the Rule Book and provide opportunities for duty holders to operate more efficiently.
