Guidance on the Application of the Control Command and Signalling NTSN

Synopsis

This document gives guidance on interpreting the requirements of the Control, Command and Signalling National Technical Specification Notice (CCS NTSN) for application to the GB mainline railway.

Summary Of Changes

In May 2025, CCS Issue 2 was published by the Department for Transport. The guidance has been updated to align with the revised CCS NTSN. It summarises the key changes to the NTSN, including the updated technical scope, the new baseline mandated specifications, and clarified system version and compatibility. The document also provides guidance on associated processes and governance, explains how to manage specific cases and open points, and outlines the transition arrangements for moving from previous CCS requirements to the updated framework.
