GERT8000-HB12 Iss 10
Duties of the engineering supervisor (ES) in a possession
Synopsis
Summary Of Changes
The title of the handbook has been revised to remove the obsolete reference to safe work leader (SWL). Obsolete references to SWL have been removed throughout sections two, eight and ten.
In section 3.2, ‘Setting up or extending the work site around one or more engineering trains’ a new requirement has been added for the ES to tell drivers that a possession has been granted before any authority for movement is given. In the same section, a new requirement has been added to allow a mobile maintenance train to move within a work site before work site marker boards are put up.
Section 11 on protection zones has been revised to introduce a new ability to use engineering possession reminders for the purpose of arranging additional protection.
The changes form part of the suite of general updates issued annually which are intended to improve understanding and application of the content of the Rule Book and provide opportunities for duty holders to operate more efficiently.
