GERT8000-HB8 Iss 10
IWA, COSS or PC blocking a line
Synopsis
Summary Of Changes
The introduction of a new industry standard regarding the operation of route-proving trains (RIS-3771-TOM) also includes supplementary rules for staff who may be required to travel on board these trains. A new section 1.5 has been added as instructions for IWA, COSS or PC who may need to access the track, and what must be agreed with the signaller and driver before doing so.
The introduction of remote disconnection of signalling equipment as a form of additional protection has resulted in changes to sections 2.2, 2.12 and 5.1.
Sections four and six have been revised to remove obsolete references to safe work leader (SWL).
The changes contribute to reducing safety risks in critical and high-profile areas. In doing so, there are expected to be benefits to reliability of operations and efficiency of engineering activity.
