This document gives guidance on interpreting the requirements of the Energy National Technical Specification Notice (ENE NTSN) for application to the GB rail system.

The guidance note has been restructured and contains new or revised content to give users a clearer understanding of requirements in the Energy NTSN. Issue two provides clearer guidance to project entities and approved bodies on the types of evidence that can be used to demonstrate compliance as part of the assessment process.

To reflect the current UK regulatory framework, issue two provides guidance on the assessment process for the energy subsystem and the interoperability constituent overhead contact line, and references have been updated throughout as necessary. Guidance related to non-technical aspects common to multiple NTSNs has been removed and published in a new general NTSN guidance note, GEGN8601.
