RIS-8040-TOM Iss 2

Managing Low Adhesion

Synopsis

This standard sets out a framework to develop, implement, monitor and review the effectiveness of site-specific plans to manage low adhesion at identified high-risk sites, which helps transport operators to control risks, mitigate hazards and improve safety and performance in preparation for low adhesion conditions.

Summary Of Changes

Content from GEGN8540 issue 2 that was relevant has been incorporated into RIS-8040-TOM issue 2. Therefore, GEGN8540 has been withdrawn. RIS-8040-TOM issue 2 has been re-structured with a framework to manage low adhesion that is easy to follow and builds upon the requirement in ROGS on transport operators to cooperate to achieve a safe operation of the railway, including reviewing site-specific plans and sharing good practice.

Relevant research has been referenced within the document.

12/03/2024 - TOM SC approved 12 month review recommendation at its January 2024 meeting that a change project is initiated.
