This technical note will help industry in the design and operation of on-train camera monitoring systems. It provides guidance on the applicable standards and Rule Book documents and how the dispatch process for driver-controlled operation and driver-only operation vehicles is performed.

This technical note was originally numbered TN112.

This technical note was produced at the request of industry for additional guidance on the design and operation of on train camera monitoring systems used for driver-controlled operation and driver-only operation.

It should be read in conjunction with the applicable standards, such as RIS-2703-RST Driver Controlled Operation (DCO) and On-Train Camera/Monitors (OTCM) and associated Rule Book documents.

It is applicable to:

• rolling stock suppliers and manufacturers;
• rolling stock owners and leasing companies;
• railway undertakings; and
• entities in charge of maintenance.
