Scope

The CCAWG seeks to: 

  • Lead on a coherent and clear narrative on climate change adaptation in rail. 
  • Influence policy on climate change adaptation including but not limited to procurement, contracting and investment decisions.
  • Advance and promote appropriate climate change adaptation in rail operations, projects and strategic plans.
  • Collate and communicate climate change adaptation information.
  • Identify research and development needs around climate change adaptation and act as steering group for such projects.
  • Enable a strategic approach to capacity building (competency, knowledge, and awareness) in climate change adaptation.
  • Act as the subject matter experts on climate change for the industry.
  • Facilitate cross-industry networks and activities that encourage collaboration, solve challenges and ensure climate change adaptation is included in rail projects and operations.

  • Passenger railway undertakings
  • Freight railway undertakings
  • Rolling stock owners and manufacturers
  • Network Rail and other infrastructure managers
  • Government (Defra and Department for Transport)
  • Transport Scotland
  • Transport for Wales
  • Office of Rail and Road
