Scope

The REF seeks to:

  • Act as a forum of environmental experts with a single voice inside and outside the rail industry.
  • Promote the rail industry as a leader in the environment field.
  • Increase the knowledge and awareness of environmental experts within the rail industry. 
  • Promote the sharing of lessons learnt and best practice across rail and other industries.
  • Review new or pending environmental legislation, with regards to the impact it will have on the rail industry.
  • Review the effectiveness of current rail industry environmental policies and practices. 
  • Develop and embed industry good practice in all areas of environmental management.
  • Review environmental performance trends to recommend future rail industry environment strategies or priorities.
  • Define objectives and outputs that the Forum intends to deliver at the first meeting of every calendar year.
