Fire safety of refurbished passenger seats
Synopsis
This technical note provides guidance on the application of fire standards to existing vehicles undergoing refurbishment which affects passenger seats.
Summary Of Changes
This technical note was produced to provide guidance for the rail industry regarding the applicability of fire safety requirements when refurbishing existing rail vehicles, specifically where changes to passenger seats are proposed.
This technical note supplements GMRT2130 Vehicle Fire Safety and its supporting standard, RIS-2730-RST Vehicle Fire Safety and Evacuation. However, GMRT2130 and RIS-2730-RST do not set out requirements for changes to existing vehicles. It also supplements other standards related to vehicle fire safety.
It is applicable to:
- rolling stock owners and leasing companies;
- railway undertakings;
- vehicle maintainers;
- turnkey providers; and
- suppliers and rolling stock manufacturers.
