This document sets out National Technical Rules for the design of rail vehicles for fire safety.

Amendments and clarifications:

• amended throughout to refer to NTSNs instead of TSIs;
• new clause 1.1.3 describing NTSNs; subsequent clauses renumbered;
• references to BS EN 45545-2:2013+A1:2015 and prEN 45545-2:2018 amended to BS EN 45545-2:2020 as appropriate throughout;
• amended clauses in section 2.1 regarding the legislative regime;
• clarified Rationale and Guidance in section 2.2
