We are looking at enabling technologies which could contribute to the delivery of the Rail Technical strategy (RTS). The enabling technologies subtopic page contains analysis and resources on these topics, from drones to artificial neural networks, to self-healing materials. This list is, by nature and by construction, non-exhaustive: it is a living list, extended and updated on a permanent basis with the new information that we find and the feedback that we receive.
RSSB horizon scanning focusses on enablers, identifying technologies and other scientific developments which can speed-up and support the delivery of the Rail Technical Strategy and the other key cross-industry strategies. We are also increasingly looking at trends and disruptors that are likely to impact transport demand and rail competitiveness.
The ‘Over the Horizon’ series looks beyond day-to-day issues and immediate challenges for the rail industry and considers future threats and opportunities, drawing on developments from other industries and around the globe.
