New standards set to make engineering change compliance easier
Featured story

Two new standards have been made available by RSSB to help rail companies when assessing and verifying engineering change to their rail vehicles.

From time to time, companies who operate or lease trains may want or need to make a change which isn't part of the current design.

Traditionally, companies have relied on Vehicle Acceptance Bodies, third party companies specialising in rolling stock engineering accredited by RSSB - to certify that changes conform.

However, this has been overtaken by legislation which does away with a one-size-fits-all approach to assurance and so means the old standard has needed to change to allow for more flexibility.

The two new standards are designed to do this and will be of interest to anyone involved in making changes to rail vehicles.
