Britain’s leading rail industry research body, RSSB, is a proud sponsor of this year’s IMechE Railway Challenge.
Participants compete in teams to run locomotives they have designed and manufactured themselves, on a the 10¼” gauge Stapleford Miniature Railway in Leicestershire.
Attracting students, graduates and apprentices from across the country, the challenge scores teams for their locomotive’s performance on the track, on criteria such as noise, energy, ride comfort and reliability. Teams also have to formally present their business case and explain their design and innovation.
RSSB’s Technical Director, Chris Lawrence, said: This is an excellent event in its fifth year, serving to inspire the next generation of innovators in the rail industry. RSSB is proud to be a sponsor and support IMechE in truly illustrating the entrepreneurial spirit in the railways.
