Train operator competition to improve operational performance
Featured story

A £3.25m competition to find innovative solutions for improving operational performance of the railway has been launched by RSSB.

The Train Operator Competition 2017 (TOC17) is designed to encourage greater collaboration between two or more railway undertakings and/or rolling stock leasing companies and suppliers.

Priority challenge areas have been identified as:

  • Operations timed to the second
  • Minimal disruption to train services
  • Energy optimisation.

However, the scope of the competition is not limited to these themes.

The competition is open to train or freight operating companies and infrastructure managers working in collaboration with suppliers and proposals are encouraged to align with the challenges and themes outlined in the Rail Technical Strategy 2012 Rail Technical Strategy (RTS).

RSSB is holding a briefing and networking event on the 11 December 2017.
