Industry teams up to deliver new sustainability workshop

Featured story
On 9 May, RSSB teamed up with the Railway Industry Association and Action Sustainability to run an interactive workshop about ISO 20400, the global standard for sustainable procurement practice.

Published in 2017, this standard provides guidance to organisations integrating sustainability within procurement. Proof of independently assured implementation of ISO 20400 is now a normal requirement in train franchises issued by the Department for Transport.

The workshop was fully interactive and designed to support procurement and sustainability/environment managers from Train Operating Companies and Suppliers to gain an understanding of the standard, to perform a basic gap analysis and identify next steps.

Anthony Perret, Head of the Sustainable Development Programme at RSSB, said: Working with our colleagues at RIA and Action Sustainability to roll out this workshop has been a success.

It’s vital that all organisations within the rail industry adhere to the new ISO 20400 standard and we are happy to help guide companies who need help with that.
