Degraded Mode Working System Sub-group
The Degraded Mode Working System Steering Group (DMWS SG) promotes the development and deployment of a DMWS to meet the needs of the industry supporting delivery of the Rail Technical Strategy.
"DMWS SG, a sub-group of V/TC&C SIC, steers research and development around train movement authority in times of primary signalling failure. The project has evaluated the economic and technical case for a proposed solution, and we will now focus on completing an operational trial to demonstrate a functional degraded mode working system for the GB railway."
Scope
The scope of the DMWS SG includes:
- Steering and supporting the DMWS project team in development of DMWS equipment to a fully operational system (Rail Industry Readiness Level 6 exit) with supporting standards and operational process.
- To promote the undertaking of joint industry operational trial on the network to demonstrate the principles and operation of a DMWS.
- To support the development of a suitable business case to justify deployment.
- To support the realisation of the longer-term strategy to progress DMWS roll out to the UK rail network in line with the DMWS business case.
- To review and promote additional applications.
