Safety Management Resources (tools, research, models and systems) are part of a Duty Holder’s Safety Management System. Their use helps implement efficient and effective health and safety management. To ensure that risk is managed so far as is reasonably practicable, an evidence and risk-based approach to safety management needs to be taken. A number of safety management resources are maintained by RSSB to support the rail industry to more effectively and comprehensively understand and manage health, human factors and safety risks. These include:
Accident investigation and Generic hazards and Bowties/Risk assessment templates (which will be made available in the near future).
Use of these RSSB resources as part of a mature Safety Management System can help a Duty Holder manage their risks.
